Namibia, the different Africa
A country with great scenic strength, to which nature has denied one of its most precious gifts: the water that looks out over the Atlantic coast as if it were a painted desert. The blue purity of the sky, the different shades of ocher from the Namib desert, the whimsical shapes of the parched trees, the animal harmony of Etosha, are some of the things that most caught my attention in this young country.
But my goal was to travel to Kaokoland, the land of the Himbas. They live in a semi-arid territory in northern Namibia. It is a minority group that has not accepted external influences and that keeps its customs and traditions alive. Both men and women are easily recognized by their bearing and beauty. Himba women have learned to demonstrate their experiences through external signs, with eyes that speak of their feelings in a world made up of many rules and few words.
