With a thousand-year history of trading due to its strategic position, Latvia is full of forts and ancient fortresses. It is also a summer vacation destination in Eastern Europe, with beaches on the Baltic Sea coast.

I toured Riga, the capital, to admire its medieval and modern architecture. The historic center has a large number of old buildings including a lot of “art nouveau”.

And the landscape of inland Latvia has a great variety of ancient forts and castles. It was quite a discovery together with Estonia that I also visited on the same trip.
