Myanmar, formerly known as Burma
This country marked a turning point in my career as a photographer and traveller. As a traveller, because the first time that I visited it, it was when this country was opening up to the outside world, and while I went alone across the country, I could discover amazed the eternal smile of Burmese, going as far as saying that it was my favourite country in Asia. And as a photographer, because I made here one of the best photos of my career and perhaps the most significant photo for me, the photo of the monk of Mandalay. After eighteen years, I just went back to meet him again during a nostalgic adventure that finally did not receive the smile of Lady Luck.
